Lapping a women in the pool...
The true English horrendous weather has arrived. I was woken this morning by the sound of the heavy rain lashing against my window. Was this the new apocalypse and should we start to build our Ark soon?Lunchtime I ventured with my towel and shorts to the swimming pool. It's a small, modest little pool frequented by the more mature members of society, especially at lunchtime when I am there.
There was a competitive element in the air amongst other users. I pushed off the side only to realise I was in some type of unknown race with the 80 year old in the lane next to me. As I swam steadily to the other side I noticed out the corner of my eye the woman in the flowery swimming-hat was gaining pace. What started of as a gentle swim became an olympic competition like Michael Phelps. I lapped her at least three times in the space of ten minutes. Her once smiling face turned into a grimace of shear effort and exhaustion to try and beat me.
Who would have thought Friday lunchtime would be so exiting?
