Robots and an amazing Concert!

This week was a bit of a special. We call it Variowoche and it is sort of a project week where you can choose different things you can do for a whole week. I signed up for trying out old pianos, a trip to Berlin and a trip to the Romandie (the french part of Switzerland). But unfortunately, because of an administrative issue it did not sign me up for anything and I had to take the thing that was left over.. And it was Lego Robotics, which is quite cool too!
So simply said I played around with Lego bricks for a week. But of course there is more to it! We had to build a functioning robot out of the parts we had (including motors and some sensors like infrared and stuff) and then we had to program it on a laptop to get it working. This was cool and we had loads of fun messing around with silly Lego robots too once we finished the tasks.. :P

Tuesday I went to a very cool concert by my piano teacher's trio in the most famous Jazz club in Zürich. I met with a good friend of mine and we enjoyed the concert together :)

50 / 50

Yesterday evening was awesome! It was my parents 50th Birthday-Party with 70 people attending, live music (and me playing too..)!
It was so cool seeing all these people again, the paella made by a professional cook was amazing and the blues concert of "6 Handful of Blues" was brilliant!
I took loads of pictures with an external flash and some of them came out pretty amazing, take a look! Also I recorded me playing on the piano and my friend singing which will end up on Soundcloud sooner or later.. :)

First exams and an openair concert!

This week was really hard but also cool! We had our first exams in Maths and French and studying for some other ones for next week.
On Thursday I met with a friend to go to a free afterwork concert in Baden. It was a local guitar player with a saxophone and I think it was brilliant! They played a variety of songs from Jazz to Blues and so on... I've recorded a video of a song:

Friday morning a friend asked me to go with the bicycle to school. And I thought, why not give it a shot? And I think (in Summer) I will probably do that more often.
But on that day we also had to do a 5km run at the river with gym class and they gave us marks for it. It went actually really well and I think most people passed.

Yesterday there was a big festival in a city close to where I live. And some friends of mine played there with their band. Their style is Jazz, Reggae and Funk and I think that they play really well. They also write all the songs themselves which is a cool but hard thing to do! Also I met a lot of friends from my school there who obviously also knew the band and we enjoyed the concert together :)

Animation Festival, Wind turbines and Concerts!

This week was the Fantoche International Animation Film Festival in Baden. I love going there every year because you see unique projects made by people all around the world. I went there this Thursday after school with a friend of mine. We were watching a collection of films on the focus of Poland and after that an international competition where you had to vote which one you liked most.. They are all very well animated and nicely drawn films, but some of them are just crazy or have weird stories.. Others though have really well made and touching stories too which made them even better.

But this morning was nothing with sleeping longer on weekends. I had to get up because I went to play at a concert in a music café at the day of education in my school. It was really cool! First of all we played with the music-workshop (the same as at the summer night party) but a bit less funky and more like café-music. After that I had a performance of a Bossa with a friend, me on the piano and him with a Djembe. It was really cool but also difficult to play because the room we played in had such a high resonance so it was hard keeping track of what the other played.

Thursday I always have three hours of Etna classes. It means experimental natural sciences and as the title says we always do various experiments on different subjects. The last three weeks me and a friend were working on a wind energy project. We have a huge fan to make a wind channel on the fourth floor and we got it up to nearly 20mph. In one meter distance we've put up a wind turbine on which we could change the angles of the blades. Then we measured the power generated by the turbine and which angle was the most efficient. It was so interesting!
