Klangschaften

Yesterday evening I had my matura-presentation. The Matura-Project is the final project you do as a high school student and which counts like any other mark in your degree paper.

In the past weeks, I've worked quite hard on these two "Klangschaften". The word can be translated to "soundscapes", but that is already a thing. Klang means sound and the term "Klangschaft" should make an association with the word "Landschaft" which means landscape. The project itself is also restricted to two landscapes, one is my school which I attend at the moment "Kantonsschule Wettingen", and the other one is based on  Baden, the town I live in.

All the sounds, without any exception, are recorded at these two locations, then edited in the Music-DAW Ableton Live 9.

You can watch both of the projects in This YouTube Playlist.
And feel free to share them with others who might be interested in such projects.

Badenfahrt 2017

Now this took quite a while to post, didn't it?

One week ago, the "Badenfahrt" took place in my city. It's a  huge ten-day festival which only takes place every ten years! Because of this huge time gap, the party is always way bigger than anyone expects. This time approximately 1.2 million people have visited the small town! There were many awesome concerts every day and I played as well!

I've been editing these four recordings of our performance on the roof of a high tower for nearly a week now. I've tried to add video to them but it just didn't work out. So here are the audio tracks!

Besides the many concerts, there were a lot of other performances, many restaurants and bars, and even an open air cinema! All of these places were only built for the Badenfahrt and were recycled again afterwards.
At such a huge event were also a lot of people who helped for voluntarily. I also helped at the open air cinema, where I looked over the place, distributed headphones for the viewers and had a good time.

Here are some of my impressions of the Badenfahrt!

More Drone Photography

As some of you might have noticed from previous posts, I've got myself a new photography tool: a drone. It's cool because it's quite tiny and lightweight. Therefore I can fit it into my backpack easily and take it with my wherever I go!
Just a couple hours ago I passed through Zürich to go to the mountains on ski holidays with my parents. I made a little stop in Zürich and flew a few miles around. Here are some of the pictures I took :)

Last weekend my parents and I went to Zuoz for two days. It's a village in the mountains near St. Moritz, tiny but beautiful! I flew around a bit too:

Some might wonder what is going on in this shot. I'll explain: I was actually lying on the floor in a small tower which had a big hole on the top. The rest of that tower was covered in snow (what you can see outside of the ring).

And here's another picture of Baden taken with the drone:

I hope you enjoyed this weeks post! Feel free to share it or leave a comment below :)

New Store Decoration - Christmas Market - Frosty Cold Pictures

For every season my parents decorate the vitrine of my dad's store. Now there's a really cool winter theme with miniature figures on a tree out of branches with wonderful lights! It looks amazing, that's why I took a cool picture of it :D

(By the way, the lights flying away was made by taking a long-exposure and zooming out ;)

On Friday I went to a really nice market in the old town of Baden with my parents. The cool thing about it was that many ateliers and shops had their doors open and you could take a look around and talk to the owners.
On the street we met two teachers of my school and they told us that there's a really nice meet-up where immigrants cook, with a self made carousel, a warm fire and nice music; of course we wanted to go there! The food was really nice!
Later that evening I went to see the new Star Wars Rouge One which is a great movie and I really recommend it to you ;)

It also got very cold in the last days and every day there's a lot of frost on the plants, but unfortunately no snow yet.. But I took some pictures of the frost (:

Funky concert, lovely Christmas market and an awesome theatre!

A week ago me and my friends from Funky Donkey performed at our school for a charity project. I helped all afternoon to prepare everything for the band, carry the drumset and base amp over to the cafeteria and in the evening everything was set and we were ready to go! First the group that organised the whole event had a little presentation about their project. They donated the collected money to the Philippines and made a charity concert!
Before we preformed there was also a Klezmer group, some dancers and a singer preforming. We also played with a Latin music workshop from our school which was great!
But take a look ;)

Winter has arrived and it got very cold outside. Which means I'd prefer to stay indoors in the warmth, but with some exceptions. Mainly if there is an event happening in our region. So today there was a winter market where all products were produced by physically or mentally disabled people and all the profit went to the organisations that help them. It's a very unique market where there are many different stands with various cool things they sell!

Yesterday evening I also went to a very cool theatre called Mummenschanz in Zürich with my parents and my cousin and his girlfriend.
It is such an unique concept of theatre and you should totally look it up or click on this Link! We've enjoyed it a lot :)

Here are also some more pictures from the concert:

Winning a photography competition and making bread monsters

This morning we went to visit some good friends of ours to eat breakfast and talk about the holiday we are going to spend together early next year. And we also baked some quite traditional Swiss "Bread Men". But I was a bit fed up with the usual design so I decided to make a bread squid and it turned out really funny with a big blobby nose :P
And it was holding hands with a very funny looking Santa Bread Man..

Just yesterday there was a lovely Christmas market in Baden. Me and my mum went there not only because of the market but also because a lot of my friends played with the Kanti Orchestra in the old church. And they played very well!
I only had little time after to go to the market because later that day some of my new school friends came to my home and we made pizza together :) After that we went to the cinema but the film (Hunger Games) was not very good. Actually it was so bad that when I got home I just had to watch the season finale of Dr Who which was just awesome!

Ah and I also won the photography competition that Stadt Baden has set up to photograph the christmas lights and I won this poetry SMS-Advent calendar. I will receive a text every day and in the end it will be a nice poem. Thank you Baden :)

Oh and it snowed for the first time last week! Really pretty :)

See you next weekend :)

Lights in the Streets and first snow!

On Wednesday evening I met with a good friend of mine to go to Baden. Every year in November, when the weather gets colder and the people start wearing jackets, our city puts up very pretty Lights in the streets. It started to become quite a tradition and these lights are famous in the whole country. Baden even won the price for the prettiest Christmas lights in Switzerland!
Just when it got dark, there was a little theatre in the middle of the city and then, with the sound of dozen children's bells they turn the lights on.. Oooooh!
I also took my camera with my with the new (old) 50mm lens to try and get some good shots of the lights. I did not focus them, so they looked like big, round blobs of light which looks a bit better I think.

Yesterday evening there was also a jamsession in Baden where I went to. It was really cool because I have met lots of my friends there and played music with them :)

Ah and of course the snow!

See you next Saturday :)
