Jam

As some of you may know, I love to go to Jam Sessions! It's such a cool way to make music with others and be creative. You also meet a lot of people there!
A week ago I went to a Jam in Brugg presented by a friend's band called "Dinner 4/5". They make really cool and jazzy music. Besides playing at the jam and mixing the jam, I also took lots of pictures of them playing!

Probably the best Birthday ever!

Last week I started my three-week internship at the University of Zurich. I’m working at the movie sciences where I can help them doing their boring office stuff, but I can also learn a lot of practical things about old colouring methods, technical things and scanning old film.

Last Friday I had my birthday. In the morning I went to the Uni, did some film scanning and then went to eat lunch with them. One student even made an appetising chocolate cake for me which was so sweet!

Later that afternoon I had free time and went drone-filming at my school for a little project some of my friends are making. It’s about how our school is really ecological and recycles a lot of things :)
Then some friends of mine and I had a meet-up like every Friday with a lot of immigrants at our school. They come around, and we play some volleyball and football together which is a lot of fun, and it’s for a good cause because they can get to know others and speak German with us.
After preparing some really excellent food with a friend, I had a jam session in the evening. We thought we were way too late but then arrived just in time! It was a beautiful and unique jam session with some fresh ideas. They made people write words on paper, and we had to interpret these words into music which was funny and cool (sometimes a little bit chaotic too :). There were words like “Oriental” but also words like “Chives” :D The jam session went on until one o’clock in the morning!

On Saturday I hosted a party for my friend’s return from Guatemala and for my birthday. We made fondue for twelve people and had a lot of fun jamming again!

The same on Sunday when I invited my family over for cake and coffee, more cake, more cake!

Two really amazing theatres!

After a few last exams this week I went two times to theatre with my parents and both performances were really cool! First we saw Simon Libsigs new program. He's a slam-poet from Baden and talked about his four month travel to South America. It was really fun because of the way he told his stories and the two musicians underlining the story with cool groves and funky melodies.

The day after we went to see Carlos Martínez on the small stage in our village. He is a pantomime artist from Barcelona and already performed here once a couple years back. Since we very much enjoyed the show back then, we just had to go again! He performed a piece called "Books without Words" and it was just astounding! I really recommend you seeing his pantomime. You can visit his webpage here.

Yesterday we visited some friends and I had a little guitar-piano jam session with my friend Siro which was a lot of fun :)

Lots of concerts!

On Monday evening, me and my parents went very spontanously to a concert in Zürich... It might not have been the greatest Idea since I had to wake up around half seven in the morning, but it was totally worth it!! I would say one of the best concerts I have ever heard..! (You can see some video footage ->here<- and you can get to Cory's Website ;)

But I did not only go to concerts this week, I also played at the Rock and Jazz night of the Blues Festival in Baden :) It was a really cool performance and we had a great time playing in front of quite a large crowd!
On Thrusday I went again to the Blues Festival with two friends but only to watch and learn, and yesterday there was a Jam Session in Brugg where we played a bit. Later in the evening I went onto the old Castle Ruin to meet some of my friends from school and we had a lovely evening :)

Lights in the Streets and first snow!

On Wednesday evening I met with a good friend of mine to go to Baden. Every year in November, when the weather gets colder and the people start wearing jackets, our city puts up very pretty Lights in the streets. It started to become quite a tradition and these lights are famous in the whole country. Baden even won the price for the prettiest Christmas lights in Switzerland!
Just when it got dark, there was a little theatre in the middle of the city and then, with the sound of dozen children's bells they turn the lights on.. Oooooh!
I also took my camera with my with the new (old) 50mm lens to try and get some good shots of the lights. I did not focus them, so they looked like big, round blobs of light which looks a bit better I think.

Yesterday evening there was also a jamsession in Baden where I went to. It was really cool because I have met lots of my friends there and played music with them :)

Ah and of course the snow!

See you next Saturday :)

Blues Festival

A good friend of mine and music teacher at our school makes a jam session every year where a lot of different artists that play at the Blues Festival in Baden jam together. It's always really cool and it's even for free! So this afternoon/evening I went there with my parents. It was good music and I really enjoyed it. Especially when some people from a local group came on stage and played "different" blues then the others did. Usually the songs sounded a bit similar but there was a lot of change in them too :)
