Midnight trip to Ticino

Sunday, two weeks ago, my friend and I decided to go to Ticino. But it wasn’t quite the usual trip. We left at around seven PM and arrived at one thirty on Monday morning. We took this day off at school just to take pictures of the stars.
For preparation, we checked out some light pollution maps and saved three different spots. One of them was near Vals at a lake which certainly would have given some cool shots of the stars with reflections of them in the lake. The second one was on top of Gotthard mountain, where there’s a road going over it. And the third one, well, was quite some more hours away down some Valley in Ticino.
The reason we’ve decided to go there for our little photography exhibition was that I’ve checked could maps on my laptop while we were driving down there. But the only one of the three places without clouds obviously had to be the one furthest away from where we left! Well, it was totally worth it!
Besides having temperatures at night around 20 degrees Celsius we had a crystal-clear sky with no light pollution anywhere! We even slept outside in our sleeping bags and it was quite warm.
And the best thing was that we’ve, accidentally, landed in the Verzasca Valley, a very famous touristic spot which is normally flooded with people during the day. But since we slept there, we were literally the first people wandering around the cold river and taking pictures :D

Night Flight

Every two years there's this huge late night event at our school called musicnight. In many different spots outdoors on the school grounds are performances of all kinds.

Yesterday, for example, the school orchestra was playing film music, I had two performances with the BigBand which were awesome, but there were also dance performances, singing and other musical acts.

The theme of yesterday's event was "Night Flight". It was all about flying and everyone was dressed up either as a captain or some other board crew. We also played a song called Night Flight. The food was lovely too, and there was even a bar inside a real old aeroplane part!

I was also flying with my drone at night because that just fit the topic perfectly. My friends Simon and David gave some RC-helicopter flying lessons next to me while I was live streaming to a huge tv screen with my drone.

Whilst flying around I took some more pictures of our school at day and night and I photographed the highway next to the school with long-time exposure so the cars would draw lines behind them.

Late-Night-Lightpainting in school

On Thursday me and my friend went late at night to our school. One reason was to see four friends play a concert at an event (where we got free dessert afterwards!). Unfortunately they did not play as much as planned because another music group took so much time to perform their stuff.

Afterwards me and Olivia went to the huge curtilage of our school to take some pictures with the light-painting technique. It's a photography technique where you have a very long shutter speed and one light source which you then move to create lines! It was really cool to make and so much fun :D
